So after the great feeling of achievement for my earnings in December 2010, it is back to reality for the month of January 2011. I am not going to beat myself up about the sharp decrease in earnings because I am grateful to be making some money online.  It means that I must be doing something right.  I just need to do it even righter – (can ya tell English is my mother tongue???!)

I spent most of the time getting rid of a few of my non performing sites. This meant removing blog posts so that I could use them elsewhere.  I also tried to implement a working schedule to measure how much I actually do. The results?  Well, there is definitely a lot of room for improvement. I have sort of figured out a daily task sheet, I just have to get on with it and not get distracted by my Google Reader, the TV, watching Army Wives eating, drinking, navel gazing etc.

Anyhoo – The results for January

During this month of my money making experiment, I added a couple of blog posts to new sites, a few hubs here and a couple of barrels there.  That’s about it.  It is nice to see that even though I may not have done too much, I was still able to earn something online. And it was lovely to receive an Amazon cheque in the post this morning. Kerching.

So Christmas is now well and truly over and we are back to the regular shoppers.  This means that I have to work on getting my sites, or rather posts, up on the first page of Google to get better results. I also have to do something about earning money from my fellow countrymen.  I mean, 54p is ridiculous!

I have to try harder to stick to my daily task schedule in order to ensure I get my bloody backlinks work done for the sites I currently have.  Why is it such a boring job? I know I have to do it but I will find almost anything else to occupy my time instead.  MUST TRY HARDER!  Wish me luck.

My Money Making Experiment – December Musings

This has been a fantastic year for me. I remember vaguely hoping to earn £1,000 within a single month by the end of the year and I finally achieved it.  At first I thought that this would be a simple task, and then I thought there is no way I would get there but I made it thanks to those American Christmas Amazon shoppers.  I even had some great sales after 25^th December too.

I have to admit that I didn’t really do as much as I wanted to this month.  I had high hopes of writing more but just couldn’t get in the mood.  I did manage to buy a couple of new domains in order to create authority sites and I have also started to reduce the number of low to zero earning websites that I have.

So To The Numbers!!

Adsense has been fairly consistent compared with previous months.  The amount increased as the number of hubpages and infobarrels I created increased.  These days I don’t really do much with the websites that have adsense and the majority comes from hubpages that I make for backlinks or for odd products that I like the look of.

Making Money With Amazon

I knew that the Christmas shoppers would not let me down. Again the figures have increased with the number of sites and hubs I have made. Money Making Goals For 2011

I am going to be bold and I am going to set my online money making target for £20,000.  Lets see if I can get anywhere near this sum.  It would certainly be a huge jump from this years total earning but I know that I have a little more knowledge than I did twelve months ago so that should help my money making experiment along.  I also want to add a new money making stream to my list so will try to work on making money with Clickbank products.

The Goals For 2011 in A Nutshell

• Get rid of the rubbish websites I have
• Create 4 authority sites
• Create a minimum of 4 clickbank sites
• Get more work outsourced
• Improve my backlinking strategy

The bad news is that the bulk of the new earnings came from a Halloween focused site so earnings will disappear from this niche site; however I had fun doing it and that is one of the reasons for doing what we do here right? The site is called Sookie Stackhouse Costume. As you will see, it is a dot info site and I chose to create this site because I have really enjoyed watching the True Blood series and have just gotten through reading a bunch of the books.  I did keyword research but the numbers weren’t that good but I had a feeling that people would want to buy the clothes that young Sookie wore as a Halloween costume and I only spent a few pence on the domain name so it was worth a punt.

During the month of October Google took my Sookie site off on a little trip not once but twice so it actually disappeared from the rankings for quite a few days.  Yes I was pissed off!! Really pissed off!! I have just checked and – yup – Google has taken Sookie off to see some other corner of the world again.  Oh well.

I would be really happy to get some feedback on the  Sookie Stackhouse costume site.  Is there anything I could have done to make it better etc. As you will see, I do favour the less is more approach to creating sites so please be kind.

With regards to my adsense earnings, I have not really done much with these sites.  I have added a few more barrels, hubpages, Xomba and Snipsly posts for backlinking purposes but the rest have stayed the same.  So this is really a passive income.

So the work that I have done with my Amazon sites has paid off.  A good portion was from the site mentioned above as well as an increase in the earnings of some of my hubpages. This is a fantastic result for me.

My Ongoing Efforts For November

I have been very good and like I said in my earnings for September post, I have not bought any more domains although I have been very tempted. That is the fun part of creating a site – spending the money. However for the month of November I will continue to add posts to my existing sites, add more backlinks and work towards getting these sites up onto the first page of Google.

New Page – My Online Earnings Summary

I have added My Online Earnings Summary page to this site so that you can see at a glance how I have been progressing with certain income streams. The progress is steady and I look forward to the day when these figures show a total of £1,000 per month.  I am sure that someone out there who is real good with the maths could actually work out how long it will take me to get to this magical (for me) figure based on my progress so far.

January was all about being distracted by Edward Cullen in The Twilight collection of books and DVD and February’s’ distraction came from Bill Compton and Sookie Stackhouse in True Blood.  This is the vampire story for the older generation with a lot more sex, violence and death by vampire attacks. And did I mention the sex?  Glorious.

Anyway….. I have been busy creating more backlinks for the sites that I have bought and for quite a few of my hubpages.

This has consisted of writing countless articles and adding little snippets to sites like Xomba, Snipsly and SheToldMe.

I have invested some of my hard earned online cash in the newest article spinner on the block called The Best Spinner.  It didn’t take too long to understand how to use it and I am happy to see that the articles I have been able to recreate have been accepted by ezinearticles with no problems.

At the moment I am only using the basic settings so I know that this tool can still do a whole lot more.

Evaluating My Websites

After doing a thorough evaluation of the sites I currently own, I know that I am doing the right things in order to get them onto the first page of Google.  I now need to concentrate on picking keywords that have a higher search rate.  This will lead naturally to higher earnings.

There has been a slight decrease in the commission earned via Amazon for February.  I hope to be able to create more hubs and my own websites in order get these numbers up.

Ideas For March

The month of March will see me continuing to create new websites.  I will increase the amount of articles I produce for each site using the best spinner and try and attack keywords with a higher search rate.

I will still be producing several sites that may not make much money but are purely for fun.  This is the only way to keep myself motivated.

My money making activities were slightly interrupted as I am currently hooked on Twilight.  I have read the first book, seen the film and am working my way through the next one.  The written character of Edward Cullen is so gorgeously described by the author Stephenie Meyers and he is depicted by the devastatingly handsome Robert Pattinson.  Just Fabulous.  swoooon.  Sorry back to the money making stuff.

So this is the review for the first month of this new decade for my money making experiment.  I wasn’t really expecting to earn very much as I thought everyone had done all their searching and buying for the Christmas period so there would be a bit of a lull for the next few weeks. However the earnings are quite good.

I created 25 more hubpages this month and have already earned money from Amazon and from adsense on a few of these posts. I also added a couple more info barrels but this was mostly for supporting my other websites as opposed to generating money. As you can see, my info barrels are not doing so well at the moment. I might try to rectify that at some point.

Joining Adsense Sharing Websites

I have joined a couple more websites in order to create more back links. These sites were recommended by a few people who are themselves quite successful with hubpages.  One site I joined is SheToldMe.com.  This is easy to join and you can earn adsense with it too.

I also joined Xomba.com.  This is similar to SheToldMe.com.  The great thing about these two sites is that you only need to write about 50 words in order to add a link to whatever you like.  I have been using them both to create links to my hubs, barrels, and posts on my sites.

My adsense results are pretty much similar to the last couple of months. Here are the adsense earnings for January 2010.
