Making Money On The Internet In April
During the month of April I have not done as much work for my oh so little money making experiment as I would have liked. This is due to a couple of things. One is because I have been distracted by a fantastic TV programme called In Treatment now available on DVD. It stars the gorgeous Gabriel Byrne who plays a psychiatrist. Each episode concentrates on one patient and their issues. It is a great insight into what happens during a session with a shrink and how people work through their issues.
I also took a short holiday break and spent the week with friends who live near Disneyland Paris. It was nice to be free from the computer safe in the knowledge that I was still earning a lovely passive income without doing anything.
During April I was able to reach a few milestones.
- I managed to get to100 hubs for one of my profiles on hubpages.
- I made some sales via Clickbank
- I purchased a few more domains.
I have also included earnings gained from other avenues. The sums are very small but, hey, every little helps.
So how much did I earn online for April 2010?
Making Money With Adsense
Each avenue lost a little bit in earnings which is a bit of a shame.
Adsense earnings from Hubs = £69.80 last month = £70.44
Adsense earnings for Info barrels = £8.07 last month = £12.50
Adsense earnings from Free blogger blogs = £12.00 last month = £24.57
Adsense earnings from my Hosted sites = £69.55 last month = £89.46
Adsense earnings from Xomba & Snipsly = £2.87 last month = £2.02
Unknown earnings = £2.01 last month = £5.51
Total Adsense Earnings = £164.30 last month = £204.50
Making Money With Amazon
Earnings were very nice for April. There are still a lot of products that have been ordered but not yet delivered so I am still waiting for quite a bit of commission. Hopefully this will reflect even better in next months figures.
I also get to add my very first earnings for Amazon UK. A good start I think.
Earnings from Amazon USA this month =£97.50 last month = £108.65
Earnings From Amazon UK this month = £12.42 last month = £0
Making Money With Clickbank Products
I have been signed up with Clickbank for a couple of years now but have not really done anything with it. These products don’t particularly interest me so I find it difficult to motivate myself to write articles for any of them. I did however promote one product through a couple of posts and did achieve a couple of sales last year.
BUT I didn’t read the terms and conditions which states that if you do not reach the payout threshold within a certain amount of time and if payment hasn’t been made from a minimum of 5 different credit cards, admin fees will be taken from your earnings. I only found this out when I went to check my account and found that it had gone from $38 to $0 due to inactivity.
So I wrote a couple of hubs to see if I could get to the payment threshold again. During this month I have managed to make 3 sales so far. However I need to get two more sales before payment is issued. Figures crossed this will happen before I start to incur admin fees again.
Earnings From Clickbank = $32.60 = £21.01
Making Money With Kontera
Kontera is another affiliate programme that I am using on my hubpages. The earnings for this are absolutely rubbish but hey, it’s another earnings avenue and I don’t have to do anything.
Earnings From Kontera = $10.91 = £7.14
GRAND TOTAL OF INTERNET EARNINGS FOR APRIL 2010
= £302.57 Last month = £313.15
I am happy to see that the total earnings are similar the figures I collated for my earnings for March 2010. I need to push myself to try and get the figure even higher. I want to get be able to make at least £1,000 per month on the internet so that I can leave my boring ass job. The aim is to do this by the end of 2010.
Ideas For May
I have been reading quite a bit of stuff from other people who are making a great living working on the internet. One person in particular is a gent livin the life in Spain called Dave. He has just started up a really interesting blog called Making Money On The Internet. He is very successful in many areas, especially using the Amazon affiliate programme.
Prompted by one of his comments about creating dot info sites, I decided to initiate my own mini challenge. I am hoping to create 50 dot info sites with Amazon links on them. This is a great (and cheap) way to practice my keyword research as I still have a lot to learn. I am picking general products so that I can write about a range of different brands. I find it easier to write for hubpages so the style will be similar to that sort of format. We’ll see how it goes.
Dave – I look forward to reading your monster post of how to make good money with Amazon.
So that’s all for now. Hope all you other internet money makers have recorded good results for your April earnings.

Yet again some great figures. However I am surprised that you are using kontera since many people on hubpages advise against it as the earning potential is low. What’s more apparently people have lost money since unless a certain amount is earned over a period the earnings arereset to zero. Also people say there is evidence for people clicking on these instead of amazon or adsense which could explain your fall in adsense income (mine actually increased by quite a lot in April-see my blog for more info!). I myself have no experience of kontera-just passing on some friendly advice based on the hubpages forums posts. Apart from that well done-it definitely seems I should figure out how to set up my own personal webpages instead of relying on hubpages, infobarrel, xomba etc for earnings!

Bristolboy – thanks a lot for your comment. Kontera was easy to switch on, that is why I activated it. However if it is going to have an adverse effect on my adsense earnings I will consider switching it back off. At the moment my hubpage earnings are similar to last months so i will leave it on for now and take a look at my results for the coming month.
Well done on your own earnings for April. I am sure you will achieve your $100 this month.
Thanks for the link. I will do the Amazon biggie soon, promise. Seems like lots of people are going for my info’s suggestion, work them well with lots of content and some are bound to be winners. Wish I had the time.
For products I don’t think keyword research is as important. I would look quickly to see what comes up under the main term but I think maybe it is better to just rattle off a load of content with buying keywords in the post titles, or reviews.

Dave – Thanks for the heads up regarding keyword research. I will definitely get to work on my dot info sites. There are lots of Amazon products to choose from so if I find ones that are of actual interest to me, they should be quite easy posts to write.
Hi
Congrats on the earnings.
I am just want to know how much traffic you have sent to Amazon for that kind of earnings. I sent about 400 visitors and got only $2 bucks (only on the very last days).
Is that particular niches that are better for Amazon like toys or video games or books?
Any tips would be helpful as I am struggling to get my first cheque from them

I have written hubs and mini sites on a variety of products. It is mainly trial and error but I tend to pick things that I would consider buying myself. I find it easier to write posts for these rather than stuff that is alien to me – like Xbox computer games or power tools.
Using Hubpages is a really good way to practice picking products so I would definitely recommend writing a things posts there.
Not bad at all. I would focus on improving traffic. Find more easy keywords to rank for or improve rankings you already have in the search engines. More traffic will bring in more money.

Deneil – Thanks for stopping by. I hope to get to work on the backlinking stuff next month. It is less interesting so i keep putting it off. However, I do know that this is the real way to improve my earnings so I will get onto it……. soon…..
Hi Tiptopcat,
My name is Jonathan and I’m the Community Manager at Kontera.
In terms of AdSense, the great thing about Kontera is it doesn’t cannibalize AdSense revenue. Because Kontera In-text ads are displayed within your website text , they don’t interfere with AdSense ads. It’s genuinely an additional revenue source.
Regarding your Kontera revenue, I think I can help with that. We’re currently offering a 70% revenue share rate to all new publishers, and I’d like to extend you the same offer. Additionally we’re providing a $50 bonus for new publishers who get at least 25,000 U.S. page views. And I don’t know if you heard yet, but Kontera just lowered our minimum payout threshold from $100 to $50, so you should be receiving your revenue in half the time.
Here at Kontera we’re very proud of our contextual technology, whose unparalleled relevancy allows us to understand the meaning of content rather than just scan for keywords like competing In-Text networks, leading to ads with higher CTR and better CPC.
We’re also very proud of our exclusive ads inventory, from such globally recognized brand names as Ford, Samsung, Intel, Dove, L’Oreal, Blackberry, Dominos, and Kmart; ads which can only be seen on Kontera and also contribute to our high CPC rate – and would like to get the word out about Kontera as much as possible.
If you’re interested in getting the preferred 70% revenue share rate, please don’t hesitate to contact me
Thanks,
Jonathan Cohen
