Earnings For September 2009

make money with Adsense and Amazon

This is the low down of my activities for September 09

So the month of September is over and what has been achieved during my money making experiment?  Well I have finally seen the light and have started to invest my hard earned online money in tools and virtual real estate that should hopefully improve my fortunes.

I Bought Market Samurai

After completing the 30 Day Challenge for the second year, I have now purchased Market Samurai, the keyword tool that was what we used to do all our research with.

During the challenge we had an incredible 40 day free trial and with the very well made video tutorials created by the Market Samurai ninja team, I really got to understand the benefits so I bought it.  I still have a lot to learn in order to really gain all the benefits but I wanted to get it at the discounted price and I will always have the videos to refresh my memory.

Time To Invest In My Own Host Websites

After checking my adsense earnings, I have noticed that I have double the amount of free websites (blogger blogs) compared to my hosted sites but they produce roughly the same amount of money.  I have finally realised that I should not be afraid of to spend £4-6 for a domain name because I am now confident enough to believe that I can make that amount of money back in adsense without too much problem.

Even if it turns out to be a dud keyword phrase, all is not lost and if it is a good choice then I will be quids in and taking one step forward towards building up a successful portfolio. To that end, I have purchased two new sites this month and hope to get some content on them during the next couple of weeks.

My Goal To Create 50 Amazon Related Hubs & Barrels

My earnings for September are fairly consistent because I was concentrating on creating hubpages and info barrels for Amazon affiliate links. I took on board the tips provided by Tracey Edwards about how to make money with Amazon and set a goal of producing 50 posts.  I didn’t think that I would make it as I got a little jaded and despondent in the middle of the month; however I got my second wind and managed to churn out the majority of them in the last few days.

I am very happy to report that I have already achieved a couple of sales already and hope to see a few more over the next few weeks as the hubs and barrels settle into Google’s search engine lists.

So to my earnings for September 09:

Adsense earnings from Hubs = £34.69

Adsense earnings for Info barrels = £28.65

Adsense earnings from Free blogger blogs = £25.88

Adsense earnings from my Hosted sites = £25.86

Total Adsense earnings = £115.08 (last month £103.28)

Total earnings from Amazon this month = £13.75

I will most probably be cutting down on the amount of hubs and barrels that I produce as I concentrate on my own sites so it will be interesting to see how my earnings will fare next month.

I also need to investigate other possible ways of monetizing my sites so that I am not dependent on adsense and Amazon.

I would love to know how others have done this month.  Comments are always appreciated.

Congrats on earning money this month! I have noticed that over the last month or so my hubs are not earning as much as they used to, but my self hosted sites are doing great – so now I’m using the hubs as backlinks to my own sites.

    P.S. thanks for the link!

    Take care

Science Man – thanks for stopping by. MS is really helpful in reducing the time it takes to check the quality of the top 10 ranked websites for the keywords you are aiming for.
Good luck with your own money making endeavours.

  4. Moving on up dude. This is Dave from the self sufficient site by the way.

Glad to see that you are still going strong. It’s strange that you talk about writing more for your own sites. I have written much fewer articles for Infobarrel this month and instead started a few new projects (my URL) and been putting more content on my own sites.

Seems to be working. It really does seem that google is starting to love more authority sites and a load of good content on your own sites can really see them begin to get much more traffic quickly. I am definitely going to keep building a few sites to build their authority.

You can then use them to post anything and get a real head start. Made some good money with Amazon by doing this last month even though what I wrote about had nothing to do with the topic of the sites they still ranked well. I am beginning to believe that a few authority sites with tons of content is going to begin beating all the little niche sites.

Congrats on the cash, might be ten times that next year. That’s what I am hoping anyway.

Oh, other ways to monetize. I put infolinks on one site the other day. I didn’t affect what it made via adsense and it has been an extra $1 or so a day. Worth a go, it all adds up, infolinks is so in your face it seems a few people can’t avoid clicking.

Hi Dave. Thanks for confirming that it is time to work on my own sites. Ben over at Make Money Online with SEO also mentioned the power of authority sites so this really is the way forward.

Thanks also for the tip regarding infolinks. I actually find these links and the Kontera ones really annoying when i see them and avoid them like the plague. However money is money and other people love to click on links so I will definitely look at applying these to future sites. An extra $1 a day means a few steps closer to job freedom.

A very nice monthly income that you got this month. I have created couple of hubs also to see how they work and it was very easy to do. Keep up the great work. Greg Ellison

      Hey Greg.
Hubpages are very easy to put together. A lot of people are saying that they have lost the strength that they previously had so it may be harder to rank with but it is free to do and still creates a backlink so go for it.

That’s great to see your progress, and believe that by reinvesting your profits back into your sites/blogs is an excellent way to go. It takes time and it’s tempting to pocket the money – but when you reinvest, you’re setting yourself up for greater income down the road. Good job!

BigManta – thanks for your comment. I am now busy looking for keywords and seeking out potential domains to buy. Since the work involved in creating a blogger blog is the same as a hosted site, I might as well pay a couple of pounds to ensure ownership of my stuff. Once you invest your own money, I think you do make more of an effort.

ps. love the look of your blog by the way.
